Do you love the thought of a Tamagotchi style experience with added RPG trappings? Then you’re in luck, as Yolk Heroes: A Long Tamago just ventured onto mobile.

Launching on Steam in May and gaining a lot of positive user reviews in the process, it’s now arguably found its spiritual home on Android and iOS devices. And to celebrate we’re giving away an exclusive item thanks to developer 14 Hours Productions.

But more on that later. First off the game itself, which offers an intoxicating gameplay loop of tending to your army – and also yourself.

The plot is straightforward. You must protect the realm as Guardian Spirit from the Frog Lord, and to do this you must raise an elf to help you in battles.

You raise them straight from an egg – which is where the Tamagotchi element comes in – shielding them from harsh climates and creatures, as well as enhancing their mood by caring for their energy, health and hygiene. 

Taking care of your own character is important too, and can be done in various ways. A key one is by buffing them by completing quests and attaining Gold – which can then be used to purchase food, potions, and equipment. Mini-games help to improve your strength, dexterity and intelligence as well. 

There’s even idle gameplay elements added into the mix. You can task your Guardian Spirit with five different tasks to get on while you’re not in-game too, and they’ll let you know when you’re needed again.

This means it feels like a game perfectly made for mobile, and offers up a gameplay loop that’s as entertaining as it is addictive.
