Stunning Retro-Futuristic Sci-Fi The Invincible Out Next Week

2025-11-30

It’s not often you run into games that are hard to compare to others. There aren’t too many styles and genres that don’t feel played out. That was why we were immediately excited to get a look at the 60s-styled science fiction adventure The Invincible, due to touch down at its landing spot on November 6th.

The Invincible is a delve into the world of Polish hard sci-fi writer Stanisław Lem. It’s based on his novel of the same name, released all the way back in 1964.Despite being penned before man even landed on the Moon, The Invincible is far ahead of its time, and the themes of the story seamlessly transfer to a game for modern audiences.

A Barren Planet

You take on the role of a crew member of a spacefaring expedition. The vessel lands on Regis III, a previously unexplored planet, on a mission of discovery.

This mission quickly changes as crewmates go missing. Trying to track their whereabouts quickly reveals that there is a lot more to Regis III than anyone first thought.. and what lies there might be deadly.

The game presents in a stunning retro-futuristic style. It’s not grey space soldiers and the identical spaceships here. No, the environments and designs look like something out of the sixty’s sci-fi movie. At a push, a Mothership Zeta styling without the alien abduction.

Space Is Scary

Don’t expect something goofy. The Invincible takes its hard sci-fi roots seriously. The atmosphere comes from the more immediate dread of space and the vulnerability as a human being.

Miles from home surrounded by nothing but rock and dust. There is nothing but a layer of glass keeping your air supply in and preserving your life.

That’s pretty scary.

Though you know what’s scarier than realizing you’re alone on a barren planet unable to support life? Finding you’re not alone on that planet.
