Medieval Platformer, Scarlet Deer Inn, Features Characters Embroidered by Hand

2025-11-30

The world of embroidery and gaming collides in Scarlet Deer Inn. A cosy and unique upcoming title that takes you on a narrative journey during the medieval period. Inspired by Slavic folklore, you play Elise, a mother of two children, as she explores her surroundings.

For more information about Scarlet Deer Inn, visit the game’s official Steam page – make sure to add it to your wishlist! There isn’t a confirmed release date as of yet, but I’ll be sure to keep an eye out and report on any updates regarding this title.

Embroidered Characters and Animation

Delve into the story as you wander through this platformer world. There are tons of characters to meet and interact with, plus, you can choose how to reply to them. One feature that stands out to me is the beautiful medieval font that pops up as you talk to people. It truly looks like it was written on an old piece of cloth, embroidered with a lovely red trim.

On the topic of embroidery, I cannot get over the fact that every character design (even the animals!) is completely embroidered by hand. Every stitch and thread moves together to create fluid movement. Whether it be when Elise is running through the fields, holding a torch, or when an NPC is simply going about their day. The amount of talent, love, and dedication that has gone into this game is clear to see.

A Two-Person Team

In fact, the developers behind Scarlet Deer Inn are husband and wife from the Czech Republic. The Slavic folklore themes are prevalent throughout the game, with each drawing, landscape, and song infused with history and a love for Studio Ghibli’s works. Yes, even the music is entirely written, composed, and performed by the two of them using traditional musical instruments.

I’m hoping to see a demo release soon, but I will patiently wait for more news on this creatively stunning game. If you’d like to learn more about Attu Games, you can visit their official website!
