The End Is Nigh, Junji Ito-Style Adventure World Of Horror Is Leaving Early Access

2025-11-30

Ever wanted to be a protagonist in a Junji Ito story? Absolutely not? Fair enough, me neither. A horror game that captures the same bizarre horror and spiralling crisis as Uzumaki and Hellstar Remina? Well, that’s more appealing. World Of Horror gives you exactly this experience, with some Lovecraft-style Elder Gods and retro charm for good measure. The good news? This terrifying gem enters full release on the 19th of this month, in perfect timing for the run-up to Halloween.

World Of Horror is a 1-bit adventure game that tosses you right into the cosmic horror nightmare as a dire curse befalls your coastal town of Shiokawa. Mysterious happenings and urban legends are popping up all over the place, and you set out to investigate them.

Crack The Mystery Before It Cracks You

As you start each playthrough in World Of Horror, you’ll discover your opponent. One of a range of eldritch Gods are intent on burning the world with the seaside town as kindling. Then, you try to foil that ageless monstrosity’s plans.

Each day, you’ll take on a case, one of the numerous strange happenings in the town, and move between different areas in the town trying to crack the mystery.

You will face angry school spirits, suspicious ramen shops, a deadly vigil over an old man’s body, and a man with a very dangerous mermaid preoccupation.

Along the way, you’ll have to deal with terrifying random events where you need to use your skill, judgement, and sometimes whatever you’re armed with to deal with the many supernatural dangers plaguing Shiokawa. Your health and your sanity will dwindle as you face the horrors head-on.

The Doom Clock Is Ticking

You can take steps to better prepare yourself for the hazards, but beware. For all the time you waste around town, the Doom counter in the corner of your screen ticks up towards the point of no return.

It’s maybe not a game you want to play if you feel like relaxing. If you want a truly unique horror experience though? Don’t hesitate to give this one a try.

World Of Horror hits full release on October 19th, and is available on PC, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation 4 and 5. Want to learn more about it? Check out the official website.
